Access Swimming Lessons are classes aimed at those who may require one on one assistance in the water.
Access Swimming Lessons are run on a weekly basis for 48 weeks of the year. The class is aimed at those who may require one on one assistance in the water, with a possibility to transition into a mainstream class.
Each half an hour lesson is taken by an AUSTSWIM - Access & Inclusion qualified instructor and is scheduled weekly at the same time. The curriculum is individually designed to covers a range of water based skills including water safety and stroke development.
Our friendly teachers have access to many forms of equipment, including picture cards for communication, to ensure the student feels comfortable.
Access Water Therapy
Access Water Therapy is a group class designed to cater for the needs of participants with limited abilities (low functioning). To cater for each participants needs and to make the most out of each session, participants will require a dedicated carer in the water with them during the class.
The session is conducted in the Warm Water Pool with an AUSTSWIM - Access & Inclusion qualified instructor and enthusiast volunteers. This environment allows the participants to relax, giving individuals the opportunity for focus to be given to each person’s own specific abilities and needs.
Equipped with a hoist, ramp, access to wet wheelchairs and helpful staff, the Warm Water Pool allows entry for all participants regardless of physical ability.

Knox Leisureworks has 3 indoor heated pools, a large spa and an access entry equipped warm water pool.
These facilities together with wet wheelchairs, numerous access change rooms and a large MLAK state of the art access change room, provide participants, their families and carers with many options for toileting and changing. The MLAK change room has an overhead hoist, bed, shower and toilet facilities, making the transition to and from the center more comfortable for all involved
